1980s

BRAZIL

THE BEGINNING

Our story begins in Brazil, where our founder, then a young law student, was drawn to coffee trading by his mother’s cousin, a former president of the Brazilian Coffee Institute (IBC).

MID-1980s

MIAMI

A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

In search of new opportunities, he moved to Miami in the mid-1980s and founded The Haas Group, gaining direct access to world markets and laying the foundation for our international commodities business.

1991

MOSCOW

A NEW FRONTIER

As the Soviet Union dissolved, an exploratory trip to Moscow opened a new market. In partnership with Irmãos Ribeiro, one of Brazil’s largest coffee processors and exporters, soluble coffee exports followed, and by the mid-1990s we held a commanding share as one of the leading coffee suppliers to Russia and the CIS.

JØRGENSEN FOODS

EXPANDING OUR OFFERING

Jørgensen Foods was founded as a spin-off to expand into soft commodities such as sugar, later adding a protein division supplying South American beef and poultry.

MONACO

A STRONGER PRESENCE

The founding of Haas Commodities SARL in Monaco expanded our presence in Europe and allowed us to serve importers across Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia.

Our history

Since the mid-1980s

TERRECORE HCS and its associated companies build upon a proud heritage spanning four decades. Rooted in a family business established in Miami in the mid-1980s by a founder inspired by the former President of the Brazilian Coffee Institute, the firm rapidly expanded into a leading merchant of instant coffee across Russia and CIS countries during the early 1990s, partnering with green coffee giant Irmãos Ribeiro to spearhead the market.

Seaweed Sugar

As demand for natural, clean-label alternatives to conventional sugar continues to grow, TERRECORE HCS brings a new source of sweetness to the market: seaweed.

Cultivated in the ocean, seaweed requires no farmland, no fresh water and no fertiliser, making it one of the most sustainable raw materials available to the food industry. From carefully selected marine sources, we supply natural sweeteners derived from seaweed for food and beverage manufacturers, confectioners and brands seeking to reduce their reliance on refined sugar and artificial sweeteners.

Our seaweed sugar DOLCE VITA ™ complements our cane sugar business, allowing us to offer customers both traditional and next-generation sweetening solutions through a single, reliable partner. SUGAR

Cane Sugar

TERRECORE HCS is an integrated sugar and ethanol business connecting Brazilian production with customers around the world.

Our model is built on long-term partnerships with leading Brazilian mills, refiners and producers. Through pre-harvest and pre-export financing, offtake agreements and strategic investment, we support production at origin and secure reliable, consistent supply.

We originate raw sugar (VHP), refined white sugar (ICUMSA 45), and crystal sugar from ICUMSA 150 up to ICUMSA 600, as well as ethanol. Our teams manage every stage of the supply chain, including quality assurance, inland logistics, port operations, freight and risk management, so that every cargo meets specification and is delivered on schedule.

We serve refiners, food and beverage manufacturers, distributors and government buyers. We supply in bulk or in containers, giving customers flexibility on volume, destination and delivery terms.

Our leadership brings decades of experience in Brazilian sugar, including pioneering the export of sugar in containers in the 1990s. That heritage of reliability and execution continues to define how we work.

COFFEE

Getting the right coffee to the right place at the right time.

TERRECORE HCS originates, processes and markets coffee for roasters, manufacturers and distributors around the world, bringing together people, resources and expertise to deliver consistent quality to every customer.

We work in long-term partnership with established producers in Brazil and Colombia, securing reliable access to green coffee at origin. Our teams manage the full supply chain, from sourcing and quality control through logistics, shipping and delivery, so that customers receive the right coffee, to specification and on schedule.

At TERRECORE HCS, sustainability is part of how we choose our partners, finance production and move products to market. Because we invest in the mills and farms we work with, we can support better practices where they matter most: at origin.

We work with producers who meet our standards on land use, labour and environmental management. We do not knowingly source from deforested land or protected areas, and we are building traceability across our supply chains. Certified products, including Bonsucro sugar and Rainforest Alliance or Fairtrade coffee, are available on request.

Environmental
Stewardship

We encourage efficient use of water, energy and soil, and give preference to mills investing in cleaner production. Our seaweed sugar, cultivated without farmland, fresh water or fertiliser, offers a natural sweetener with a lighter footprint.
